The program Fall Fairy Garden Workshop is rescheduled for February 2024. We apologize for the inconvenience, and we look forward to hosting your interest in 2024.
Spark your child’s imagination and learn to build your own Fall Fairy Garden. Fairy gardens nurture creativity and make direct connections to our natural world. We will supply materials to make your garden fairy feel right at home. Registration fee is $25; registration link coming soon!

2023 Galveston County Master Gardener Fall Festival

Discovery Garden: Open Garden Days
The Discovery Garden is a 4-acre demonstration garden promoting best practices in home horticulture. Public Hours are weekly every Thursday from 9am to 11am; except holidays and severe weather events. We welcome all residents and visitors.
You can explore vegetables to ornamental gardens, Earth-Kind Garden to Pollinator Habitat Garden, seasonal vegetable research and ongoing aquaponics program, and Urban Orchard programs featuring citrus, peach, fig, pear and plum trees. We offer workshops and demonstrations through hands-on learning at our garden for the benefit of our community
Gardening Seminar – Beautiful Blooming Ginger
Gulf Coast Gardening seminar. Cultivate tropical beauty at home with ornamental ginger. Horticulture Agent Stephen Brueggerhoff shares growing and propagating tips for Tulip Ginger, Spiral Ginger, Hardy Ginger, Butterfly Ginger, Peacock Ginger and more in the seminar.

Succulent plants delight with unique shapes, vibrant colors and ease of care. Join Galveston County Master Gardener Patricia Martin and Horticulture Agent Stephen Brueggerhoff, presenting their fave succulent plants including Euphorbia, Haworthia and Aloe species. Plumeria Propagation Workshop
Celebrate and cultivate plumeria with Loretta Osteen, Galveston County Master Gardener. Loretta will lead a hands-on workshop demonstrating propagation methods for plumeria from cuttings and seeds. Participates will also learn how to make Hawaiian Lei with plumeria blooms.

Blackberries – Urban Orchard Series
Urban Orchard Series – Bramble On! Blackberries. Presented by Galveston County Master Gardener Monica Martins and Horticulture Agent Stephen Brueggerhoff, we will explore blackberry cultivation including varieties (thorned and thornless), growth habit and seasonal pruning, trellising systems and fertilization. You will learn about soil preparation and planting, as well as disease and pest management.
