Part two of three programs: Growing Great Tomatoes by Galveston County Master Gardener Ira Gervais. Gervais reveals his secrets of successful production of great tomatoes. Learn about various varieties that do well in this area, when to transplant your seedlings, and best growing techniques. Receive information about soil requirements, nutrients, and temperature range for best tomato fruit set. With this knowledge, you can become the tomato king or queen on your street and be challenged by your friends.

Growing Tomatoes from Seed – Gulf Coast Gardening Seminar

Do you want to learn how to grow great tomatoes? This is the first in a series of three programs presented by Galveston County Master Gardener Ira Gervais learning all how to grow great tomatoes in Galveston County.

Part 1 will cover growing tomatoes from seeds, where to obtain seeds and supplies, and more needed to start and grow your seedlings. Discussion topics include how to pick the best seed varieties for Galveston County, seed starting methods, growing techniques and preparing your starter plants for spring garden planting. Registration is required.
