Join Horticulture Agent Stephen Brueggerhoff, presenting pecan cultivation and tree maintenance in Galveston County. We will also exhibit award winning pecans and distribute ribbons for winners of the 2023 Galveston County Pecan Show. Registration is required.

2023 Galveston County Pecan Show thru Dec. 6

Bringing pecan pride, open to commercial and backyard growers, and celebrating pecan culture in Galveston County!

Entries are now being accepted for the Galveston County Pecan Show, with three categories for commercial, classic and new division, and natives. Click here to find out more information, entry forms and pecan show rules: 2023 Galveston County Pecan Show

Submitted samples must reach our Galveston County AgriLife Extension office at 4102-B Main Street, La Marque by Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at 3 pm. For more information about pecan sample submission, contact: 281-309-5065, Jill Jessen, Administrative Assistant to Horticulture.

Entry deadline and pecan show programs:

  • Deadline – December 6 – Entries must be dropped off by December 6, 2023 at 3:00 pm at Galveston County Extension office, 4102-B Main Street, La Marque, TX
  • Judging – December 8 – Entries will be judged by a local volunteer committee on Friday, December 8, 2023
  • Awards – December 9 – Results and awards will be presented at seminar ‘Going Nuts for Pecans!‘, Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 1 pm.

Urban Orchard Series: Growing Pecans at Home

Learn best practices for planting, maintaining and cultivating pecans with Horticulture Agent Stephen Brueggerhoff. Weather allowing, we will visit a remnant pecan orchard in Carbide Park.
