Urban Orchard Series: T-Bud Grafting 2024
Galveston County Master Gardener Hazel Lampton will present a hands-on workshop for T-bud grafting. We will explore methods used on peach, plum, pear, apple and other fruit trees.

Vegetable Garden Series: Onions and Garlic 2024
Galveston County Master Gardener Kevin Lancon will highlight best practices successfully growing bulb onions and garlic. Additional information on health and wellness benefits of each will be presented as well as a few recipes and ways to utilize both onions and garlic in cooking and possibly a tasting item or two. Kevin will share his experience of growing onions and garlic with a number of tips and tricks to maximize results including specific variety selections that perform well in Galveston County.

Discovery Garden: Open Garden Days
The Discovery Garden is a 4-acre demonstration garden promoting best practices in home horticulture. Public Hours are weekly every Thursday from 9am to 11am; except holidays and severe weather events. We welcome all residents and visitors.
You can explore vegetables to ornamental gardens, Earth-Kind Garden to Pollinator Habitat Garden, seasonal vegetable research and ongoing aquaponics program, and Urban Orchard programs featuring citrus, peach, fig, pear and plum trees. We offer workshops and demonstrations through hands-on learning at our garden for the benefit of our community
Amazing Succulent Plants 2024
Succulent plants delight with unique shapes, vibrant colors and ease of care. Join Galveston County Master Gardener Patricia Martin, presenting her favorite succulent plants including Euphorbia, Haworthia and Aloe species. You will learn about soil and water needs, container planting and propagation, and home care.

We have recently started a gardening club at Weber Elementary for 3-5th graders and are preparing the flower beds so we can begin serious planting in the fall for next spring. We welcome speakers who would like to help guide our little group.

Learn how to grow blackberries and blueberries in the backyard garden, a two-for-one seminar with Galveston County Master Gardener Monica Martens, (Ed.D). Monica will present blackberry and blueberry varieties, cultivation, fertilization and maintenance. She will also share activity ideas for families with children.
Presentation: 10am – 11am
Tour of berries & conversation in the garden: 11am – 12:00pm
