March 6, 2024 by Nicky Leave a Comment

Join us for the Dallas County Master Gardener Association 2024 Garden Tour featuring 5 private home gardens and a public demonstration garden, as well as a new concept to the tour this year – two “bonus” pass-by gardens that are just too packed full of native and adaptive botanical marvels to leave out. The East Dallas/Old Lake Highlands area was selected for this year’s tour as a prime location for showcasing the natural beauty of the surrounding areas of Dallas’ “hidden gem,” White Rock Lake. Trained docents and expert speakers will be on hand at each featured garden answering questions and giving advice. Topics will include propagation, native plant selection, gardening with shade, composting and “winged things,” to name a few.

Tickets are available for $18 in advance or $22 at the door.

Milam County – Tree Stewardship

August 11, 2023 by Nicky Leave a Comment

The Little River Basin Master Gardener Association (Milam County) is hosting a tree program on Wednesday, August 16th, 6:00 pm, at the Patterson Center, 609 Mill Avenue, Rockdale, TX.

Camille Wiseman, a woodland ecologist for Texas A&M Forest Service, will offer a wealth of information on general tree care — selection, pruning, and health — so that landowners may be able to protect what they have and plan for the future. Bring your questions and photos. The presentation will last 1 to 1.5 hours with ample time for questions.

Ms. Wiseman’s work with TAMU Forest Service includes creating stewardship plans for landowners looking to implement conservation practices and administering forest health programs such as the oak wilt suppression project and Emerald Ash Borer monitoring.

If you have ANY questions or concerns about your trees, then you should plan to attend this free program.
