The 24nd Annual Hill Country Lawn and Garden Show, sponsored by the Highland Lakes Master Gardeners will be held Saturday, March 30, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Burnet County Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office located at 607 North Vandeveer, in Burnet, Texas. The day is filled with over 35 artisans and garden vendors offering all types of plants, along with garden and outdoor inspired products and services. A bluebonnet-inspired donation quilt will be on display. A well-known silent auction will be back this year with new and repurposed items. There will be food, gardening demonstrations and a kids’ booth with hand on projects. Free eclipse glasses will be handed out while supplies last. Dallas County – 2024 Garden Tour

March 6, 2024 by Nicky

Join us for the Dallas County Master Gardener Association 2024 Garden Tour featuring 5 private home gardens and a public demonstration garden, as well as a new concept to the tour this year – two “bonus” pass-by gardens that are just too packed full of native and adaptive botanical marvels to leave out. The East Dallas/Old Lake Highlands area was selected for this year’s tour as a prime location for showcasing the natural beauty of the surrounding areas of Dallas’ “hidden gem,” White Rock Lake. Trained docents and expert speakers will be on hand at each featured garden answering questions and giving advice. Topics will include propagation, native plant selection, gardening with shade, composting and “winged things,” to name a few.

Tickets are available for $18 in advance or $22 at the door.

Earth-Kind® Landscape Design and Management School

January 28, 2016 by Nicky

During this unique educational experience, you will learn how to design, plant, and manage a landscape that is beautiful, low maintenance, tolerant to heat, drought, and torrential rains, and the ultimate in environmental responsibility. No previous design, plant, or management knowledge is needed.
This two-day course will take place at the beautiful Myers Park & Event Center near McKinney the weekend of February 20 & 21, 2016, and consist of an in-depth classroom program, outdoor laboratory session, plus a personalized extended (1.5 hour) landscape design consultation to be conducted a few weeks later. In early summer, you will also be able to join us on a special field trip to tour the highly regarded Texas A&M Earth-Kind® Plant Trials.
Dr. Steve George, Professor and Extension Landscape Specialist with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and creator of the Earth-Kind®Environmental Landscape Management System, is the lead instructor and will personally conduct all of the design consultations.  When the course is complete, you will have been given a wealth of landscape knowledge and will leave with a labeled working landscape plan for the major landscape area of your choice.
This school is an outstanding value at only $295 per household. Class size is very limited, so you will want to enroll as soon as possible. For more information and to enroll, please contact Kim Betancourt  at 972-952-9211 or by email at kim.betancourt@ag.tamu.edu.
