Selecting Trees for Desert Dwellings

September 9, 2023 @ 11:30 am - 12:30 pm

El Paso Water and El Paso Master Gardeners have created a series of Water Conservation workshops we’ve nicknamed our GROWS talks. GROWS is an acronym for Gardening Resources Outreach Workshops and Seminars.  We provide a variety of research-based resources for creating healthy, water-conserving gardens.

Choosing a landscape tree is one of the most important decisions a homeowner must make. Most trees have the potential of outliving the people who plant them, so the decision deserves some research and forethought.

So many questions! What trees do best in our high-desert environment? Learn how to assess your tree needs. What function will your tree provide-shade, windbreak, ornament, or color, fruit or nuts, or perhaps a screen or barrier? Come join us as we consider what tree is best for you.

There will be an optional tour after the program to view and discuss some of the trees at TecH2O Learning Center.

Please register for this workshop at Eventbrite so we’ll know how many to expect:
