The Highland Lakes Executive Board voted unanimously to nominate Robert and Sheryl Yantis for the honor of Texas Master Gardener Emeritus. They were both certified as a Master Gardener in 2005. Since that time, they have been highly active in our association, usually working together and volunteering for many HLMGA projects:
- The Kingsland Library – both
- The Helping Center Garden – both
- Texas Tough Plants project – both
- Burnet Middle School plant sale – both
- Design and layout floor plan for Burnet County Area Fair – both
- The Green Thumb project co-chairs
- Lawn and Garden project co-chairs
- Certification Class chair – Robert
- Design the original HLMGA website and webmaster – Robert
- Both have spoken at numerous Green Thumb and Master Gardener meetings on topics such as landscape design, purple martins, and butterflies. Many Master Gardeners have attended their presentations and received Continuing Education hours.
Over the sixteen years, Sheryl has volunteered over 4000 hours and Robert over 3000 hours.
Robert and Sheryl are valued members and an integral part of HLMGA but have decided to retire as active members. However, they would like to remain members of Highland Lakes Master Gardener Association with Emeritus status, which will allow them to participate as they are able.
