The State Master Gardener-Texas Superstar® Plant Advanced Training was created as an intensive multi-day training that helps empower certified Master Gardeners with knowledge and skills required to effectively support and multiply Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service efforts in Earth-Kind® environmental educational programs in their counties. To be eligible for the Master Gardener – Advanced Training in the Texas Superstar® Plant Program, an applicant must possess an up-to-date Master Gardener certification or be an employee of Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service. What does it take to be become a Superstar® plant?
It isn’t easy to become a Texas Superstar® plant. Only the toughest, most reliable and best-looking plants make the cut. Every plant earning the Texas Superstar® designation undergo several years of intensive field trials by both Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service. During these field trials, plants receive minimal inputs in regard to soil preparation, levels of water, pesticides and simply must perform and look aesthetically pleasing under harsh and variable Texas growing conditions. Only two (2) Master Gardeners per county, unless space is available by noon Monday, October 3, 2022, we may be able to accept applicants from the Waiting List.
Since the event is being held at the Holiday Inn Conference Center (5701 South Broadway Ave., Tyler, 75703), a block of rooms has been set up if you wish to stay at the hotel.
