Junior Master Gardeners

Since the 2012 school year, the SJCMG Junior Master Gardener team has provided educational opportunities for the students of Coldspring-Oakhurst Consolidated  Independent School District. When participating in Junior Master Gardeners kids have been known to eat and enjoy broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and even spinach because they grew it.

Over the last seven years, over five hundred (500) 3rd and 5th grade students have participated in both the classroom and hands-on experiences. Not only do they cook and eat what they grow, they share with senior citizens in San Jacinto County.

SJC Master Gardeners also shared their expertise at Career Day for James Street Elementary and Coldspring Intermediate School.

Cathy Loflin and Dr. Judi Benestante continue to lead this program for our organization.
