SJC Master Gardeners meet on the 4th Thursday of each month. In November, meet the Thursday before Thanksgiving. Meetings alternate between the Coldspring Community Center (101 E. Cedar Avenue) and Shepherd Community Center (10251 TX-150, Shepherd), with networking at 10 am, meeting at 10:30 am, followed by a member-hosted lunch.
Our members come from San Jacinto and Polk Counties, from Livingston to Cleveland.
In addition to our classes and meetings, our members visit regional gardens, historic sites, forests and parks and anything that offers fun and bit of new learning. Food is always an important part of each outing. In recent years SJC Master Gardeners attended Featherfest in Galveston, took an historic tour of Houston, and toured Stephen F Austin University’s Mize gardens several times, Nature’s Way Resources in Conroe, John Fairy Garden in Hemphill, The Houston Zoo, and more.
Interns training to become Master Gardeners are encouraged to participate and volunteer in all activities.
