SJC Master Gardeners meet one time per month on the 4th Thursday of each month. In November, we usually select a different date because of Thanksgiving. Most meetings are held at the Coldspring Community Center (101 E. Cedar Avenue) and start at 10:30 am. Our members live throughout the San Jacinto and Polk Counties, from Livingston to Cleveland, and the Center provides a central location.
In addition to our classes and meetings, our members visit regional gardens, historic sites, forests and parks and anything that offers fun and bit of new learning. Food is always an important part of each outing. In recent years SJC Master Gardeners attended Featherfest in Galveston, took an historic tour of Houston, and toured Stephen F Austin University’s Mize gardens several times.
Interns training to become Master Gardeners are encouraged to participate and volunteer in all activities.
