Cindy completed her 25th year as a Master Gardener in 2021! She certified as a Master Gardener in Milwaukee County in her home state of Wisconsin in 1996. While there, Cindy volunteered at the Boerner Botanical Gardens giving early evening tours. She worked in trial gardens at the extension and served as the co-chair of the Tours and Trips Committee. Her interests in day lilies and herbs led her to join the Day Lily Society and the Herb Society of America.
In 2018, Cindy moved to San Marcos, Texas, to be near her daughter and transferred her MG membership to Hays County. The move from gardening in zone 5 to zone 8 was challenging, but Cindy became an active member right away. While volunteering at the San Marcos Discovery Center Demo Garden, she shared her love of gardening and expertise with other volunteers as well as the guests who toured the gardens. Nowadays, Cindy focuses on the low maintenance native and adaptive plants which flourish in Central Texas. She will talk at length about gardening with anyone who is interested!
