Youth Gardening Classes – Fall

The Fall Session of the Youth Gardening Classes will be held after school on Tuesdays, October 3, 10, 17 & 24. The young gardeners will learn about fall and winter vegetables and will be planting in the raised beds at the Angelo West Branch Library. The Sprouts class is for 4-6 year olds and is from 4-5 p.m. The Junior Master Gardener class is for youth in 3rd-5th grades and is from 5-6 p.m. We’ve added a “Teen Helper” to the classes for youth 6th grade and up. They will learn as they help with the classes. After a short lesson and activity, the gardeners will be planting in the raised beds in the garden. They will water from the rainwater collection tanks to learn about water conservation. The young gardeners will also make feeding stations for the birds and they will learn about worm farming and pumpkins. The session will end with each gardener painting a pumpkin to take home.
