Master Gardener Monthly Meeting: The Importance of Bees

July 8, 2019 @ 6:15 pm - 8:00 pm

Topic: “The Importance of Bees”

Speaker:  John Swan owner of Wicked Bee Apiary.  John is currently the President of the Travis County Beekeeper’s Association, a member of the Texas Master Beekeeper’s program, and a board member for the Austin Area Garden Clubs at Zilker Botanical Gardens.

John will speak on bees in the garden, their functions and importance to gardening and the ecosystem. What plants they need and what we can do to make our gardens a part of their daily working life.

John is the owner of Wicked Bee Apiary where he manages an average 50 honeybee hives, provides training and consultations for other beekeepers, and hive management services for landowners. He is also the owner of Wicked Bee Removal Service which was created to help save honeybees from unnecessary extermination by providing live removal and relocation services when bees setup a colony in an undesirable location.

Come join the Master Gardeners Monthly meeting and program. Visitors are welcome. There is a social hour starting at 6:15 pm and the program begins at 7:00 pm.
