How did it get to be July already? I don’t know where the time has gone, but I do know our Somervell County Master Gardeners haven’t been resting on their backsi…I mean laurels! Although we have been unable to meet as a group for a few months, we have been busy individually and as a group. Many of us have stopped by on our own or in small gatherings at the Paluxy Heritage Garden to plant a few plants, pull a few weeds, decorate for the 4th of July, and work on an irrigation system. Our members have also had some extra time to work on our own yards and gardens, and, from all reports, there have been some pretty major improvements. However, with the heat of summer starting to set in, it may be time to slow down a bit and take some time to reflect on and enjoy the work that has been done. My habit, and one that is shared by many gardeners, is to take a little time in the morning to stroll around the yard and garden then sit awhile with a cup of coffee in my hand and reflect on life in general. I find that my time in the garden helps to keep things in perspective and remind me that there is a season for every purpose. May this warm, summer season find you healthy and contented, and may July be a month of joyful moments and a bounty of gardening blessings.
