Lunch with the Masters | Wildlife Exemptions

September 18 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Texas has a long history of managing working lands and many of these working lands today are kept in place with the ability to maintain lower property taxes due to the 1-d-1 Tax Valuation. In 1995 the Texas Legislature passed a law that made it possible for folks with a current 1-d-1 ag valuation to maintain their same property tax savings while managing for native habitat and wildlife.

In order to qualify, you must have an existing open-space agricultural, timber, or ecolab valuation and conduct 3 of the 7 activity categories annually on your land: Habitat control, Erosion control, Predator control, Providing supplemental supplies of water, Providing supplemental food, Providing shelters, Making census counts to determine population.

In this seminar you will learn the history, law and rules surrounding 1-d-1 open space and then we will take a deeper dive into wildlife management valuation, the reasoning for it, qualifications for properties, and the importance of it for small acreage landowners.

They will also walk us through different management strategies that can be used by large and small acreages alike.  A property that enjoys a wildlife exemption, regardless of size, is part of the six million acres in Texas currently being managed to preserve open spaces and lower property taxes – while increasing property aesthetics and property value.

You won’t want to miss this informative event.

Be sure and bring your lunch to this free session. Everyone is welcome.
