Q: Can I grow hostas in Central Texas?
A: Yes, or maybe no. Hostas really prefer a little cooler area than Central Texas. Yet many people have successfully grown them, at least for a while. They tend to decline if we get especially hot and dry weather for an extended time. You must plant in the shade with highly organic soil that drains well. Keep the soil moist but never soggy. Don’t spend a great deal of money on these plants.
