Q: When I began cleaning my flower beds I began finding lots of grubs, what can I do to kill them before they damage my yard?
A: Finding some grubs any time of year is normal. If you dig in the lawn area and you find 3 to 4 grubs in a 12 inch by 12 inch area then you have a possible problem. You can treat with any one of several seasonal grub control products. Contact your local independent garden center for availability. These products will not kill every single grub on contact. The new products will keep the developing grub from growing and it will gradually die. The larger the grub the slower the control and if the grub is near the stage where it will become a June beetle they are not feeding much and it may not kill it, but the new products should control the grubs for up to 3 or 6 months.
