HOPE STATION
On Wednesday April 12 a group of MG assembled a new raised bed vegetable garden at the Hope Station campus. The main building looks like this from Magnolia St. The vegetable garden will be on the right side of this building, right at the front corner. The building has a fascinating history as the old Railroad Hospital. Hope Station is an outreach program for the homeless and the economically disadvantaged in Palestine. Everything to computer access for applications for jobs, to hot showers, to Chick-fil-A sandwiches (donated) that are frozen and can be microwaved for an instant delicious meal for the hungry.
The purpose of the vegetable garden will be to offer the produce to the clients of Hope Station and supplement their diet with fresh vegetables. There is also a residential program headed by Randy Bechtel and he is the person who is specifically in charge of the vegetable garden. Randy has gardened in the past, so once we get the beds in place – he will know what to do!
