Howdy!

Howdy!

My name is Ryan McCormick, I am the new County Extension Agent for Ag and Natural resources here in Walker County. One of my main project areas is to assist and advise our Master Gardener program. We have an active and involved program here in the county that strives to educate others in all aspects of gardening, general horticulture, and gardening related education to our youth. I plan to post on this blog with updates in our program, updates from our MGs, events, and much more!

Currently, I am working in conjunction with our MGs to create a new interactive system in our garden utilizing QR scans. Our vision is to have a database of various plants in our demonstration garden to be marked with a QR code. Anyone that walks through our garden can scan these codes using their phone and be directed to the “What’s in the Garden” tab on this website. Within this tab will be a database of all the QR coded plants with descriptive information on each. We hope that this can be a seamless way to aid in educating anyone on what they are seeing in our garden.  Once this is available, I’ll update everyone in a blog that we are live!!

Please stay tuned to our blog for various updates and information from me and a variety of our Master Gardeners!
