A Few Changes
Many thanks to Cecilia George for sharing her talent and expertise as Editor of The Grapevine over the
last eight years! Cecilia, who is retiring as editor—but not as a Master Gardener—says, “I have enjoyed this job very much!” She will remain as advisor while she takes on other tasks, at her church, with her family, and in her garden. A very busy lady!
Although its hard to step into Cecilia’s capable shoes, I’ve agreed to sign on as your new editor of The Grapevine. My request to you? Please send me plenty of material for the MG newsletter! This is your newsletter, and it should reflect your tremendous talents and interests! Please try to get your material to me by the 20th of each month, to include in the next month’s edition.

High Plains Water District’s Annual Rainwater Harvesting Workshops
HPWD is now accepting registrations for its 2019 Rainwater Harvesting Workshops! This year’s program will feature a greater emphasis on medium and large-scale rainwater harvesting installations.
These FREE workshops will be held from 6:30 p.m.–8:30 p.m. at these locations:
• April 11 – Mallet Event Center & Arena, 2320 U.S. Hwy. 385, Levelland
• April 25 – Cole Community Center, 300 N. 16th Street, Canyon
• May 2 – HPWD office, 2930 Avenue Q, Lubbock
Katherine Drury, HPWD Education and Outreach Coordinator says,
As heavier downpours and longer periods between rainfall events become more frequent, we want to share information with the public about larger capacity rainwater catchment systems. This workshop is a great opportunity to hear from those who have hands-on experience with rainwater harvesting.
This is the sixth year that HPWD has hosted these workshops.
Drawings for 25 Ivy rainwater harvesting barrels will be held at each workshop. The barrels hold 50 gallons of harvested rainwater, courtesy of HPWD. (Please note: One barrel per household.)
Registration questions? Contact Katherine Drury at (806) 762-0181 or katherine.drury@hpwd.org
Attending one of these workshops counts as 2 CEUs.
