The Texas Master Gardener program

The term “Master Gardener (MG)” was first coined in the early 1970’s to describe a new extension program in Washington State. The Master Gardener program of Texas officially formed in 1987. It is a volunteer program offered by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service to bring horticultural information and projects to local communities. Program objectives are implemented through training and “employing” local volunteer, known as Master Gardeners. In 1991, the statewide non-profit organization was formed.  BCMG Facebook Page
