VEG Children’s Garden

Follow the animal tracks, enjoy the rainbow of colors, learn the letters of the alphabet, and notice the sea characters painted in the fountain pond that will delight the young and young at heart.

This area includes the Sensory Garden, the Native Texas Garden, the Birding Habitat, and the Butterfly Area.

Enter through the garden gate! (If it’s not open, jiggle the latch on the gate.) The gardens are open from dawn to dusk, free of charge, EVERY DAY! Come on IN!!

The Sea Creature Pond in the Children’s Area

The Children’s Garden was the First Phase of Victoria Educational Gardens. It is basically four sections around the pond.

Sensory Garden Area in Children’s Garden

One of the main features of the Sensory Area is the big SUN PATIO. In this area children learn to use their senses to better enjoy the garden. Eyes, Ears, Mouth and Nose. Seeing, hearing, tasting, smelling and of course feeling. Are things smooth or rough, hot of cold, feathery? Pokey or stickery?

Butterfly Area in the Children’s Garden

In this area children learn about the life cycle of a butterfly from adult female, egg, larva or caterpillar, pupa or chrysalis and back to the butterfly.

Bird Area of the Children’s Garden

One of the fun features of the Bird Area is the Bird House Classroom. Children can use it to plant a seed during out VEG Tours or to listen to one of the many books our master gardeners might choose to read with them.
