June Garden Tip: Mulch Matters
As temperatures rise, one of the best things you can do for your garden is apply a 2–3 inch layer of organic mulch around plants, shrubs, and trees. Mulch helps:
- Conserve soil moisture
- Reduce weed growth
- Moderate soil temperatures
- Improve soil health as it breaks down
Remember to keep mulch several inches away from plant stems and tree trunks to prevent disease and pest issues.
