Scholarship Application

In 2024, Rockwall County Master Gardeners began a pilot program to raise money for scholarships.  These funds come from proceeds from seed and bulb sales during our biannual plant sale, as well as various learning events throughout the year.  The response has been tremendous, and we are pleased to announce we will be awarding $1,000 scholarships to Rockwall County graduating seniors looking to pursue a degree in horticultural or related sciences at a 2- or 4-year college.

The RCMGA scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors currently residing in Rockwall County and attending a Rockwall County High School, charter school, or home school program. Rockwall County senior student residents who attend a high school outside of Rockwall County are also eligible.  The applicant’s elected academic major must be in a horticulture/life science-related field that includes, but is not limited to horticulture, agriculture, biology, botany, agricultural chemistry, entomology, environmental science, forestry, genetics, landscape design, sustainable agriculture, urban geography, land management, plant physiology, and horticulture-related business.   Aspiring horticulturists may work in industry, in government agencies or entities, educational institutions, or in private nurseries or gardens. They may be managers for floriculture or horticulture-related businesses, landscape architects, turf specialists, golf course managers, plant geneticists, arborists, irrigation managers, crop inspectors, research scientists, and/or teachers.

The Texas Master Gardeners is a volunteer organization conducted by Texas A&M University AgriLife Extension Service. The purpose of the Master Gardener program is to increase the availability of horticultural information and improve the quality of life of residents through horticultural projects and activities. The Rockwall County Master Gardeners Association is a non-profit (501c-3) tax-exempt organization.
