Rockwall Founder’s Day

Join us as Rockwall marks its 172nd birthday with the annual Founders Day Festival on Saturday, May 16! This free, family-friendly event takes place in Downtown Rockwall and Harry Myers Park, featuring a day packed with entertainment, activities, and live music.

Rockwall County Master Gardeners present The Founders Garden an interactive garden experience for all ages. What would the early settlers of Rockwall County have grown in the 1850s? Simple, practical vegetables that fed families and stored well, along with Texas native flowers, herbs and more. Drawing on our founding era, we’ll feature heirloom or historically common vegetables and native Texas plants that thrive in Rockwall County.

Featuring:

– The Square Foot Garden Demo

– The Founders Seed Table. An easy, interactive seed bar for all ages, so everyone can create their own “Founders Garden”.

– Education Stations on native plants, vegetable crops and how to set up a square foot garden.

– Hands-on activities and giveaways:  Herb Sachets, Wildflower Bombs, Scratch and Sniff herb challange.
