2021 Plant Sale Update
2021 Texas Master Gardener Conference.
And in case you missed the 2021 TMG Conference – here’s a few documents they shared from two of the breakout sessions:
The first document contains links for research- based gardening information online. This was presented by Skip Richter. It includes great links to online databases such as Ask an Etymologist and Help Identify My Plant.
This next document contains links to things like mobile phone moisture meters, weed removers, plant and insect identification apps, such as Picture This, Plant Snap and Flower Checker. Please keep in mind that the links listed in the document will lead to third-party vendors for purchase or download.
This was a great conference with many informative speakers and tons of information all designed to help us become better gardeners and to learn to use technology to assist us in this.

We would like to thank Marie Privott, Chairperson of Fundraising for a great wonderful achievement.

Walk Across Texas! 2021
It is time for the annual Walk Across Texas Event!
Walk Across Texas is 8 week community program delivered through a web-based platform and is designed to assist people of various ages and abilities to establish the habit of regular physical activity.
Walk Across Texas! is designed for participants to be encouraged and supported by a team, using a fun and motivating approach. The event challenges teams to track and log mileage to virtually walk across the state of Texas – 832 miles!
Using a system of self-reporting physical activities, a study performed in 2016 found that self-reported physical activity significantly improved from week 1 to week 8, increasing an average of nearly 5 miles per week, which translates to an additional 11,000 steps/week. For a quick teaser on Walk Across Texas activity equivalents, go here
Walk Across Texas has individual, youth and organization team sign ups available. This is a great way to celebrate the new relaxing of CDC guidelines – get outside with friends and family and WALK!
As per Kevin Gibbs, if you participate you can put the hours towards VMS.
The Nueces County Challenge starts on 21 May 2021 and continues through to 15 July 2021.
For more information or to register please visit the Walk Across Texas! webpage. Once you are registered, you will receive your link to create your profile and be notified of any virtual events.
