Current Scholarships

Johnson County Master Gardeners offers four college scholarships to Johnson County high school seniors who have participated in FFA, FHA, 4H or other agricultural experiences. 

Three named scholarships and one general scholarship are awarded annually.  The Jack Rowland scholarship and the Ben Oefinger  scholarship honor outstanding Master Gardeners. The Chris Schneider scholarship is in honor of a previous Johnson County Extension Agent. Also, one additional scholarship is awarded to honor all Johnson County Gardeners.

Scholarship Categories:
Which scholarship to apply for:
  • Ben Oefinger – Only for Cleburne ISD students  ($2,000)
  • Jack Rowland – Only for Godley ISD students  ($2,000)
  • JCMGA Scholarship – For any high school students except Cleburne and Godley ($2000)
  • Chris Schneider  – For any high school students except Cleburne and Godley ($3000)
Scholarship Requirements:
  • Must be a High School senior in Johnson County, Texas
  • Must have previous involvement in 4-H, FFA ,FHA or other agricultural experiences
  • Submit the application, transcript, and two letters of reference by May 1st, 2026.

At least one of the two references must be from a person directly related to your FFA, FHA, 4H or Ag experiences.

Download the application form and fill out completely.

Indicate scholarship(s) for which you are applying

Please cover your social security number if it shows on your transcript.  This is not needed and security will not allow for it to be received via email.

Email all applications and documents to [email protected] OR it may be delivered to the office at 109 W. Chambers St., Cleburne, TX 76033 by May 1, 2026.
