Jim Ewoldsen, Collin County Master Gardener Association’s Master Gardener of the Year in 2009 and 2013, joined CCMGA in 2007 at the insistence of his wife, fellow member Judy Ewoldsen. Elected CCMGA President in 2011, he set out to reform the organization, implementing leadership term limits. He created the raised bed gardening presentation, and revised original presentations by his fellow Master Gardeners. He and Judy were instrumental in the creation of CCMGA’s The Garden Show.
He served multiple years on the Texas Master Gardeners (TXMG) Advisory Team and assisted in hosting its 2016 Annual Conference. Jim guided a redesign of the CCMGA website and upgraded IT equipment, facilitating members learning their use. He taught vegetable gardening to multiple CCMGA Intern classes and has been very active with the Speaker’s Bureau. Jim has been an avid gardener, even internationally during his and his family’s time residing in Indonesia and Australia, working for his employer. Jim says of his time with CCMGA and TXMG that “this has all been fun.” We are so thankful for Jim Ewoldsen, his wife, Judy, and their incredible contributions to the Collin County Master Gardener Association these past two and a half decades.
