MGs and Interns 3.20.12

March 20, 2012 by mstarr1971

M.G.s  &  Interns,
It’s looking like this Wednesday’s work day may be a wash out as per the weatherman, however, if the worst of the rain comes through Tuesday we may still be able to salvage some time working in the greenhouses on Market Day plants.  Friday looks to be great weather wise so, hopefully, we can have a good turnout and catch up on sale preparations.
The vegetable beds were still too soggy to till last week but we were able to mow the grounds and weed eat around all the beds.  The damp soil made weeding easy so we were able to accomplish a lot of bed cleaning and as a result the garden is really looking great.  The roses are loaded with buds and will soon be exploding with color; come check ’em out.  The muscadine pruning has resulted in a flush of new growth and with all the rain we should have a bumper crop of grapes this year; wish Agrilife Extension had a wine making seminar.
As we enter the final countdown to Market Day, we really do need all the help possible these next two weeks with plant pricing, inventorying and organizing supplies, etc., etc.  Master Gardeners know all the preparation that’s required for the sale and interns will get to see first hand what it takes to put on a successful Market Day.  There will be someone at the garden Wednesday come rain or shine so, unless the weather is severe, come on out – we have plenty of shelter.
