Do you have a gardener on your holiday gift-giving list? Here are 10 suggestions almost any gardener would appreciate:
An olla pot is a ceramic pot which gets buried up to its neck and filled with water. It waters plants as the liquid trickles out over time depending upon how dry the surrounding ground is. An olla pot would be greatly appreciated by gardeners who water by hand and would like to save time tending certain areas or pots in their gardens.
A ceramic fruit fly trap is a small gift that would be a big help to any gardener who composts. Fruit flies seem to come out of nowhere and can be a gigantic nuisance. Ceramic fruit flies traps help control them and come in various designs, from modern to whimsical.
Plant markers also come in many designs, from simple blank metal markers that need the plant name etched into it to beautifully designed markers which even the most persnickety gardener would be proud to place in their garden.
Plants are always appreciated. If you do not know which plant to gift as an addition to their landscape, consider a house plant. An orchid is lovely and may start a new obsession. African violets, cacti, or succulents are easy to grow. Most appropriate would be a Christmas cactus. It will bloom each year and your generosity will be long remembered.
Head planters are fun and interesting. They come in many different head shapes—male or female, funny to beautiful. You can also find animal head planters. Do not forget to find a fun plant to place inside the planter.
Are you wanting a gardening gift which will get a laugh? Buy a bag of composted manure. But do not be surprised when your amusing gift is taken seriously and you are given a hug in return.
A puzzle with the picture of a lovely landscape will be appreciated on cold or rainy days when the gardener can not get outside.
A bird feeder with a camera is another gift that does not require the gardener to be outside to enjoy it. Remember to add some bird seed to your gift.
Some basic gardening gifts always appreciated are gloves, trowels, and shovels. For something a little less basic, you can find trowels which are hand forged and are a piece of art as well as a hard-working implement.
A gardening coffee table book with beautiful pictures will be cherished for years, especially if the photos are of the type of garden the gardener likes—for instance, cottage, formal, meadow, etc. As a bonus, these inspiring photos may generate lot of gift ideas for the gardener to ask for in future years.
