Culture

Best grown in well-drained soil with full sun exposure, Vinca Cora® Cascade RFP – Strawberry tolerates heat and drought once established. Avoid overwatering, as vinca is susceptible to root rot in poorly draining soil. Requires little maintenance, as flowers are self-cleaning. Occasional fertilization helps maintain vigorous growth and continuous blooms throughout the season.

Noteworthy Characteristics

Cora® Cascade RFP – Strawberry is a trailing variety of Vinca, known for its exceptional disease resistance, including resistance to Phytophthora, a common fungal disease in vincas. This variety produces vibrant, strawberry-pink blooms with a deep center and thrives in hot, humid conditions where other flowers may struggle. Its cascading habit makes it ideal for spilling over containers and hanging baskets.

Problems

Generally low-maintenance and disease-resistant, but susceptible to overwatering and poor drainage. Rarely affected by pests, but aphids or spider mites may occasionally appear.

Garden Uses

Ideal for hanging baskets, window boxes, and containers where its trailing habit can be showcased. Also works well as a ground cover in sunny garden beds, providing season-long color with minimal care. Suitable for mass plantings, borders, and xeriscaping.
