Culture

Mama Mia Giallo Peppers are large, Italian roasting peppers that mature to a bright golden color. “Giallo” is Italian for yellow, and these peppers mature to a beautifully rich, yellow color. An All-America Selection (AAS*) in 2014, the large fruits are 7-9″ long at full maturity. Mama Mia Giallo Pepper produces meaty peppers with thick walls and a juicy, almost citrusy flavor. This is a heavy-yielding variety with each plant producing over 25 large fruits. Plants are compact and average about 2′ tall, making this a great variety for containers and raised bed gardens.

Plants should be started indoors 4-6 weeks before the intended outdoor planting date. Peppers can produce heavy fruits and will require some form of support to keep the plant upright.

*AAS – All-America Selections is an independent non-profit organization that tests new, never-before-sold varieties for the home gardener. After a full season of anonymous trialing by volunteer horticulture professionals, only the top garden performers are given the AAS Winner award designation for their superior performance.

Noteworthy Characteristics

Mama Mia Giallo Pepper is a hybrid, yellow, Italian roasting pepper. Heavy yields of 7-9″ fruits on compact plants. Fruit is sweet and juicy, this variety ripens sooner than many Capsicums so you can enjoy these peppers earlier in the season!
