Culture

Best grown in rich, well-drained, consistently moist soils in partial to full shade, Impatiens Imara® Xdr Mix thrives in warm, humid environments. Avoid letting soil dry out completely but ensure good drainage to prevent root rot. Regular deadheading is not necessary as plants are self-cleaning. Pinching young plants can encourage bushier growth. Hardy in Zones 10-11 but typically grown as an annual in most regions.

Noteworthy Characteristics

The Impatiens Imara® Xdr Mix is a breakthrough variety with Extreme Disease Resistance (XDR), particularly against downy mildew, a common issue in traditional impatiens. It features large, brightly colored blooms and vigorous, mounded growth. Ideal for shady gardens, containers, and hanging baskets, providing continuous color throughout the growing season.  Impatiens Imara® comes in a vibrant mix of colors including orange, red, salmon shades, purple, pink or white.

Problems

Generally low maintenance and disease-resistant, but susceptible to overwatering and root rot if soil remains too wet. Avoid overhead watering to reduce the risk of fungal issues.

Garden Uses

Perfect for mass plantings, borders, shade gardens, and containers. Works well in hanging baskets where it can cascade over the edges, adding vibrant color to patios and porches. Ideal for adding long-lasting color to shaded areas where few other flowers thrive.
