Culture

Also known as Million Bells, Calipetite® Red Calibrachoa is perfect as a trailing ground-cover or spilling over a hanging basket. Plants will be covered in masses of small vivid-red, Petunia-like flowers for most of the year making them a real highlight, especially when planted en masse.

The Calipetite® Red has been bred to grow as a naturally compact mound of color, delivering a beautiful rounded highlight for gardens or pots with their uniformity of color, extra-long flowering time and resistance to Powdery Mildew. They are compact and easy to maintain and will provide an abundance of color for many months of the year.

Noteworthy Characteristics

Calipetite® Red Calibrachoa is smothered in stunning red trumpet-shaped flowers with yellow throats and a black ring at the ends of the stems from late spring to early fall. Its small pointy leaves remain green in color throughout the season. The fruit is not ornamentally significant. This plant is self-cleaning, meaning deadheading is not necessary.  However, trimming off the flower heads after they fade and die will encourage more blooms late into the season. It is a good choice for attracting bees and hummingbirds to your yard, but is not particularly attractive to deer who tend to leave it alone in favor of tastier treats.

Problems

No significant negative characteristics.

Garden Uses
