In August 2017, flooding resulting from Hurricane Harvey destroyed our headquarters at the AgriLife Extension Office located at Bear Creek Park in west Harris County. The testing and demonstration gardens, orchards, and green house at the Extension Office were all ruined. These gardens were utilized to evaluate the best adapted plants and practices for gardening in this area and produced as much as 3200 pounds of fruit and vegetables for those in need across Harris County.
Our association’s main purpose is to assist Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Harris County in their mission to provide research-based information to help the public learn about gardening and horticulture. Master Gardener volunteers assist the AgriLife Extension Agents by attending public events across Harris County to answer questions and give solutions to problems people have in their garden or landscape. We are passionate about educating children and adults to become self-sufficient gardeners. From Cylinder Gardening programs at schools, to gardening lectures across the community, and garden therapy programs, we expand Extension’s mission to serve Harris County residents with research-based information and assistance in horticulture.
We strive to offer area residents healthy plants, provide the horticulture knowledge to grow gardens, and help the public to develop their landscapes. The public has flocked to our sales for 20 years, to buy the highest quality trees, vegetables, herbs, and plants that are hand-selected for the greater Houston area.
The loss of the facilities and resources at the Extension Office significantly impacted our ability to improve the lives of residents through horticulture education and outreach. However, our determination and efforts to fulfill this mission continue to press forward. We need help to continue our work at the level of involvement for which we are known. Please consider helping support us as we work to rebuild and to continue our programs that make Harris County a better place to live, and to garden!

To join Randall’s Good Neighbor Program, complete a Charity Addition/Deletion form at your Randall’s Grocery Store Courtesy Booth.
- Randall’s will update your Randall’s Remarkable Rewards Card to list HCMGA as a charity of your choice
- Randall’s will donate 1% of your total grocery purchases to HCMGA.

Texas Master Gardener Specialty License Plate
Support the Texas Master Gardener Association by displaying specialty license plates on your vehicle. From the $30 specialty plate fee, $22 goes to the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service for graduate student assistantships within the Texas Master Gardener Program and to support activities related to the Texas Master Gardener Program.
