From Sandra Rosen:
Thank you so much for all of your help. I love our newsletter. I think we have really made it into a great one. When we first started, we decided that we would be part scrapbook, part news of upcoming and past events, and that we would also try to have some informative articles that would be interesting and thought-provoking. (For example, this month John will do an article on Psychology of Plants.) Anna has really perfected the format and it looks amazing.
This morning we decided:
1. The newsletter would come out every other month and since we are starting late this year, we will skip January and do
February-March
April- May
June-July
August-September
October-November
December-January
Next year, we may decided to include January and change the months, but we will decided that later. The newsletter will come out on the first of every month. That is so that the events for the two months will be complete. For example, this time it will include all events for February and March. Articles will be due on the 25th of the month before the newsletter is to come out. For example, for the February 1 newsletter, your articles should be to Anna by January 25. They can be sent earlier.
2. Regular articles in each newsletter will be the Message from the President, Tommy’s Tips, Garden Guru, and Susan’s events list. These can go directly to Anna by the 25th. I will send a reminder.
3. We also may plan to leave some newsletters around offices or nurseries around town. We will need to put a small box in the newsletter that tells people who are interested in joining our group who to contact.
4. If you have any ideas for the newsletter, please just write it up, or send Paula or I something about what you think would be good and we will follow up.
5. This month we will have our regular articles (see #2) and also Paula will do articles on the new class and an article on the December banquet. Paula is also going to see if Jimmie will write an article about our speaker this morning. Joan will do the bio and recipe each month. John will write an article on The Psychology of Plants.
6. These are my thoughts on upcoming articles:
Earthkind Living: Nutrition – Preventing Disease instead of Treating Disease
Easy Backyard Composting
New Gardening Ideas – Lasagna Gardening, Hugelkultur Gardening, Back to Eden Gardening, etc.
7. Newsletters will be posted on the website, Anna will send them out to each member, and we will bring hard copies to the meetings.
Thanks so much. Please let me know if you have any ideas or if I misstated something. Let’s have fun doing this!
