(Please note: As this training is offered to all Master Volunteers, it is still referred to as a Specialist Training, although for Master Gardener purposes, it will be considered Advanced Training).
Master Volunteer Entomology Specialist Training will include experts speaking on insect identification, insect collecting and curation, integrated pest management, pesticide safety, insects in the garden and landscape, solitary bees/pollinators, creating a bug-friendly garden, urban and structural pests, and insect disease transmission. Participants will collect and curate insects for a collection during the course. Master Volunteer Entomology Specialists are expected to carry out entomology projects within their respective counties to gain the required certification hours (20 hours).

Most of the course will be conducted at the Williamson County Extension Office. There will be some local travel to sites for field trips and we are relying on participants to provide transportation for these trips. Please remember to dress accordingly for days we are taking field trips. Wear long pants, shoes with socks and bring a long-sleeved shirt, sunscreen, insect repellent, flashlight and any other personal items you require.
Only 20 participant spots are available for this training, so submit your registration forms as soon as possible. Registration is on a first come/first served basis. Registration must be completed by July 31, 2019.
Registration fee is $225 per person.
