NEW! ADVANCED TRAINING: Plant Pathology (FULL)

November 4, 2024 @ 8:00 am - November 19, 2024 @ 5:00 pm

$150
  • « Galveston County – Landscape Design for the Home Gardener
  • Harris County – Dried Plants Workshop: Teas, Spice, & Floral Arrangements »
THIS CLASS IS FULL. IT WILL BE OFFERED AGAIN IN SPRING 2025.

This is a brand-new course presented in a new format. As with all Advanced Trainings, certified Extension Master Gardeners will need agent approval, with the standard maximum of two attendees per county. The training has a maximum capacity of 50 participants.

The process differs from the usual procedure, so please follow the steps below closely:

  • Friday, October 18th: Form sent to CEAs to submit their two approved volunteers for the training. The submission deadline is November 11.
  • Wednesday, October 23rd: Promotion of the training resumes via the website and social media. This short delay ensures that those on the notification list have the first opportunity for approval.
  • Monday, November 4th: Pre-approved volunteers, as submitted by the CEAs, will receive a link to the self-paced portion of the course. Learners will use this link to pay the $150 registration fee directly through AgriLife Learn and access the course anytime between November 4 and November 11. It is highly recommended that participants complete the self-study portion during this time to prepare for the two in-depth Zoom sessions.
  • Monday, November 11th: A link to the two Zoom sessions will be sent to all registered learners by the course instructor, Angelina Bernadini. A reminder email will be sent on November 15.

If you have questions, please email Program Manager Nicky Maddams at nicky.maddams@ag.tamu.edu

Advanced Training is offered to certified Extension Master Gardeners whereby they may obtain greater knowledge that supports or expands specific county educational programs. Agents must approve a volunteer to attend an Advanced Training Class. Attendees of Advanced Training Classes are to prioritize public education for the purpose of attending.

Advanced Training classes provide a minimum of 16 hours of education. Following completion of the training, an individual must complete a minimum of 20 hours of volunteer service in the subject matter. These hours are in addition to annual recertification requirements. It is recommended that a designated program or project be outlined prior to attending the training class for the volunteer to be able to obtain certification.
