Open House at Municipal Rose Garden
April 14/11:00 am - 2:00 pmFree
Please join us as we host our annual El Paso Municipal Rose Garden Open House on April 14th, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. We’ll showcase the beauty of over 1,500 blooming rose bushes. After the winter pruning by dedicated El Paso Master Gardeners and Community Volunteers, the rose bushes respond with their prolific spring flush of flowers. While most of the garden’s bushes are repeat-bloomers and will continue blooming until early winter, it is in April when they show their first flowers of spring that the garden seems to be wall-to-wall blooms.
Come to tour the lovely four-acre rose garden and learn its history. We’ll also have an Information Table staffed with knowledgeable Master Gardeners ready to answer your garden and landscape questions.
Our new El Paso Gardening Handbook will be available for sale at the Rose Garden Information Table. It addresses El Paso specific gardening concerns and best practices. With chapters on ornamentals, edibles, turf, native and adapted plants, woody plants, and climate, it will appeal to both experienced and novice gardeners. The handbook was written by El Paso Master Gardeners in cooperation with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and provides research-based information. The handbooks may be purchased for $10 each.
For the handbook, checks, cash or money orders will be accepted.
Since 2007, El Paso Master Gardeners have volunteered at the El Paso Municipal Rose Garden as part of an agreement between the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and the City of El Paso in cooperation with the El Paso Rose Society.
