2018 Intern class of Ellis County Master Gardeners has been establishing a huge gardening area at the Waxahachie Care Center FOOD BANK (located at 1208 Ferris Ave, Waxahachie 75165) in an effort to help provide more ways to provide instant food for those who have a need. As one of the best efforts of hard work and heart possibly seen by a class yet, they will now be offering an educational class on JULY 12 from 930-1030 am to the public, showing them how to maintain their newly gifted garden and how to grow their own food from home (even using old household items such as a milkjug or an old shoe), simple & delicious ways to prepare these foods straight from the garden, and also an arts & craft project for labeling their garden on painted rocks. Much of what is found in this garden, has been donated by local individuals and businesses. Our goal is to provide research based horticultural and agricultural information and education to the citizens of Ellis County in the hopes of winning an award because of having shared the new knowledge and efforts socially. Finally, this group has more fun playing in the garden, as one should; and has a wide variety of ethnicities, ages from somewhat young to senior, and careers ranging from medical, a police officer, bee keeper, business owners, and more, but not one farmer or landscaper. This is a reward & joy for ALL to see and learn how to have SUCCESS in Texas weather conditions!
