Donna’s love for the outdoors ignited her passion for gardening, leading her to join the Master Gardener training program in 1996. Since then, her involvement within the DCMGA has been outstanding. She took on the challenging role of being the Master Gardener Help Desk in her inaugural year, a task no one else was willing to tackle during a time when internet resources were scarce. Her determination and resourcefulness set her apart, as she worked tirelessly to provide valuable gardening insights and assistance to the community.
Throughout the years, Donna has held various leadership positions within DCMGA, including Volunteer Coordinator from 2007 to 2013, Intern Class Administrator, and TMGA Delegate. Her unwavering dedication to these roles helped the organization grow and thrive.
In recognition of her exceptional contributions, Donna was named an Honorary Life Member of DCMGA in 2009, a testament to her enduring commitment and impact on the association.
Donna’s involvement extended beyond her official roles. She was an instrumental Administrative Assistant to CEA-Hort John Cooper and continued her dedicated service after his retirement, working with Janet Laminack. Her enthusiasm for her work and positive relationships with her colleagues enhanced the organization’s effectiveness and fostered a supportive, productive environment.
Additionally, Donna’s participation in other organizations, such as Affenpinscher Rescue and Club of America, showcased her versatile abilities and capacity to excel in different capacities. Her certification as a Master Naturalist in 1998 further highlights her deep-rooted connection to nature and her dedication to its preservation.
