Growing in North Texas
Plant in well-drained, fertile soil – tolerates alkaline soil and water. Add 2 to 3 inches of mulch to maintain moisture. Use diluted general-purpose fertilizer several times during the growing season. Somewhat cold tolerant, but will die down to the ground in the harsh winters. Can cut dead stalks back to the ground in the winter. It grows new stalks each spring.
