DeAnna Baumgartner became a Master Gardener in 2006 and has worked tirelessly since Day One. During her eleven years as a Master Gardener, she has amassed 2,513.5 hours of work. Below is a list of some of her accomplishments.
- Received eleven Golden Trowel Awards for over 100 hours service each year
- Taught Aransas Master Gardener Classes for several years on herbs and vegetables
- Taught several classes for the Nueces Master Gardener Program
- Founded the Ray High School Greenhouse Project
- Coordinated the Nueces Learn to Grow Program for 10 years overseeing and building over 300 vegetable gardens throughout the County including a garden in every CCISD school
- Secured funding for sprinkler system at the Food Bank of Corpus Christi Garden Beds and helped with their maintenance
- Participated in many YEEHA presentations at area schools
- Volunteered at the South Texas Botanical Gardens and Nature Center helping with signage and plant identification for special events and plant sales
- Revised Learn to Grow Manual to better meet the needs of the program
- Developed the first community manual for community gardens at the La Mirada Housing Projects and the Antonio E. Garcia Recreation Center
- 2006 Nueces County received 2nd place for the Learning to Grow Manual while she chaired Learn to Grow
- 2008 Nueces County received 1st place (medium/large association category) in Learn to Grow while she chaired Learn to Grow
- E.M. (Going the Extra Mile) Award in 2008
- Second Place Master Gardener of the year for 2012
