2017 Master Gardener Classes – Training Class 17

February 28, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Topic:Selecting and Growing Garlic for the Home Gardener
Featured Speaker/s:Shawn Warren
Shawn Warren will present a program on selecting and growing garlic for the home garden here in North East Texas. They are currently growing around 80 different varieties of garlic near Paris Texas. Depending on your soil type there are soft neck types, hard neck types and also varieties of garlic that are plucked and used for their fresh greens. It all depends on the type of flavor you are looking for! Learn how and when to plant the different types, then how and when to dig and the best ways to store your garlic cloves.

Interns/CBMG should bring their soil sample sheets to the meeting tomorrow as this will be the last class we have any free time to talk about what types of fertilizers that you will need for your lawns and gardens during class time.

Snacks, soft drinks and coffee will be provided.
Current Master Gardeners are welcome but encouraged to limit their participation in class discussion. The time will count towards your CEU requirement.
