Visit our Demonstration Idea Garden (DIG) and Brazos County Arboretum
Located at 2619 Highway 21, West in Bryan, Texas, which is open to the public daily at no charge. See plants and trees that grow and thrive in Brazos County landscapes. You can observe, listen, and learn about Earth-Kind® landscape practices that are in tune with nature.
See our award-winning butterfly garden that features a spinning butterfly identification wheel. Nestled among its flowers and grasses is LARV – our Texas sized caterpillar who is waiting to greet you. The garden is a certified Monarch Waystation and a registered Pollinator Site.
Enjoy a walk through the roses, herbs, and vegetables. See how compost happens and feast your eyes on Texas Superstar plants that grow despite all that Texas’ weather throws at them. Inspect the amazing rainwater harvesting tanks or relax in the shade garden.
While you’re at the DIG, stroll through the neighboring Brazos County Arboretum (click here for more information) and stand in the shade of trees that are just right for growing in this part of Texas (click here for a tree list). Together with the adjacent gardens in the DIG, the Arboretum provides a living classroom for all to learn from and enjoy.
The DIG is made possible by Master Gardener volunteers and community supporters who use the best of organic and traditional gardening principles to conserve water, reduce the use of fertilizer and pesticides, decrease landscape wastes entering landfills and conserve energy through landscaping.
