During a December 9, 2016 awards presentation, The Lake Granbury Master Gardeners (LGMG) awarded Georgia and Arnold Blaylock with Master Gardener Emeritus status. This honor was bestowed upon the couple in recognition of their years of exceptional service to the organization.
The Blaylocks entered the Master Gardener trainee class in 2000 and finished their required education and volunteer service in 2001. Since that time, they have been instrumental in the planning and execution of Master Gardener projects large and small. They faithfully worked in not one, but two demonstration gardens laboring in all types of weather conditions to construct pathways, build walls, dig gardens and install plants. Says former LGMG president Kathy Murray, “The Blaylocks literally became the backbone of the organization.”
According to a statement issued by AgriLife Extension agent Marty Vahlenkamp, “Georgia and Arnold are most deserving of emeritus status. Not only have they been diligent workers, they have shared their time, talents, home, garden and plants. Our demonstration garden, garden tours and plant sales would not have been as successful without their expertise, hard work and dedication.”
