The Blanco County Master Gardener Association was established in the spring of 1996 to promote sustainable gardening practices and enhance our local community.
Our dedicated volunteers engage in a variety of impactful projects. At Blanco State Park, we clear and plant native species at the park entrance and assist the park service in the ongoing removal of invasive plants. In cooperation with the LBJ National Historical Park, we’ve developed a grass identification area and planted bluebonnets at the Visitor’s Center. Additionally, our members maintain the butterfly garden at the Blanco County Annex, and care for the beautiful landscaping around the Johnson City welcome sign and the 290 intersection.
In addition to these efforts, we are passionate about education. We present engaging gardening and environmental topics to both youth and adults and host occasional workshops on various subjects. For a complete list of workshop topics, please visit our Speakers page to learn more.
Blanco County is home to beautiful natural treasures, including Blanco State Park, Pedernales Falls State Park, and the Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park, all of which inspire and enhance our mission to support native landscapes and sustainable practices.
We also support local youth by offering a scholarship for 4-H and FFA participants pursuing a degree in an agriculture field. If you’d like to contribute to this meaningful program, please consider making a donation using the link below.
