Garden Tasks
- Prune bush roses by up to 1/3
- Fertilize roses, bougainvilleas and fall-blooming perennials
- Divide and transplant amaryllis bulbs, irises, cannas, etc
- Begin planting spring-flowering bulbs
- Plant perennials and ornamentals
- Watch for caterpillars on brassica plants, then remove them or dust plants with Bt
- Begin planting cover crops: elbon rye, clover, etc
- Continue deadheading flowers for fall blooms
- Fertilze houseplants according to individual plant needs
- Prepare any tender plants that have been outside for the summer to come in for the winter
- Begin planting wildflower seeds
- Keep watering trees and shrubs until there is reliable rainfall, especially pecans, citrus and other fruit trees
