Garden Tasks

  • Prune Roses – February is the prime time for pruning shrub roses to encourage healthy spring growth and more blooms
  • Prepare Garden Beds – Work compost and organic matter into garden soil to enrich it for the spring planinting
  • Plant Cool-Season Crops – Early in the month, continue planting leafy greens and root vegetables befoe temperatures rise
  • Start Seeds Indoors – Begin warm-season vegetables indoors for transplanting in March and April
  • Mulch & Weed – Add a layer of mulch to garden beds to suppress weeds and maintain moisture
  • Check Irrigation Systems: Inspect hoses, sprinklers and drip systems for leaks or damage before the growing season begins
  • Prepare for Frosts: Keep frost cloths handy in case of unexpected cold snaps that could damage tender plants
